Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you all !

2005 Race Calendar

The 2005 schedule has now been presented by all 3 series running in the coming year, namely the National Championship, the Super Kart Challenge and the Rotax Max Challenge. No less than 19 races to choose from in Thailand next year, with possible additions of new Inter-Asian tournaments still being planned. Be wise though to the fact that in previous years there have been several track and date changes through the season.

Seacon, Bangkok 18-19 December 2004

Large numbers of karts are now being seen at Seacon in preparations of the season ending race weekend on the 18-19 December. The track has recently been upgraded with shiny new paint. Expect this to be a record turn out event as kart racing is literally exploding in Thailand.

Update

First of all my apologies for the long absence and lack of web updates. As most of you know I met with a fairly large accident while racing the last Bira race. This led to injuries that required operations and hospital stay and consequent months of recovery. It is for this reason that no work has been done on the web site and I do apologize.

Now for the important news:

1) For the 7th National round at Seacon:
The qualifying will be run on Saturday 18/12 at 15:00
The race will be run as regular on Sunday 19/12

2) The regular KAT season ending party will be held at Seacon after the race.

3) The National Championship and Veloil trophies (for Winner and 2 runner up in each class) will be presented at a televised party at "Yes Indeed!" Restaurant at Ramintra-ekami. This is a combined Veloil and Superkart arrangement and additional information from the organizers and winners lists can be found here.

4) We have unfortunately not yet received any information from the Veloil Club Race and are therefore unable to bring you these results.

Close to 100 karts are expected to attend this large event and Bira will as always provide for fast and exiting racing. Being one of the largest circuits in Thailand it offers good overtaking possibilities as well as fast sweeping corners. This is an ideal opportunity to launch your racing career in Thailand and all, new and old are welcome. Price money in the large Clubman class is from THB 15000 for the winner down to THB 3000 for 5th place. Well worth racing for. Open practice from 07:00 in the morning and drivers meeting at 09:00. Big Pho, Khon Kaen 24 October 2004 - Race Results

Fast and Furious. A fantastic race weekend in the hart of Isarn, the Big Pho race circuit offered the tightest racing of the year. Though short, the track offers challenges to everyone, as the races would prove. Race report and points section has been undated.

11/10-2004

Big Pho, Khon Kaen 24 October 2004 - National Race

Big Pho - what a blast ! The track is by far the most technically demanding we have in Thailand. Smooth, with high grip surface and some corners that calls for planning well ahead. The track is relatively short, yet has both ample overtaking possibilities as well as nice layout. ...and if you miss corner 6 you will find yourself on a train heading for Laos - just you wait and see!

Several teams, including Team Castrol, Berger Racing, Singha, Pizza Company and others tested at the track over the weekend and reference times and pictures has been updated here.

11/10-2004

"Silly Season" - continued...

After a marathon meeting last week the KAT has confirmed that there will not be any changes to the Clubman engine regulations for the 2005 season.

7/10-2004

Official KAT 2004 Season Points

The points section has been corrected and verified by the KAT. There were mix-ups with drivers being posted in wrong age groups, with wrong start numbers and in wrong classes. Two good advice to avoid confusion:

1. Write your name and number clearly on the race registration forms.

2. Make sure you have the right unique start number for your age/class.

7/10-2004

"Silly Season" in Thai karting

Rumors are rife on track changes, class changes, organizational changes, fuel testing, Hot Lap tire softeners and the like. Issues relating to the 2005 season should be decided soon, especially in regard to the tracks. The KAT has confirmed that the seasons last race indeed will be held at Seacon in Bangkok. Hot Lap tire softeners has been declared illegal, even though it is somewhat unclear how this will be policed. Fuel testing with a new and reliable test-equipment should start shortly. Rumors of changes to the Clubman engine regulations are also making the rounds -to most peoples utter astonishment.

Anyway, the next race is soon on in Khon Kaen and racers and fans the like is expecting to be heading north east wards in droves. Expect a fresh track report from the new and "untested" Big Pho track. Information and maps can be found here. See you in Isarn !

Check out the attached Mika report from Rotax Max Finland. Mika would not have stood a chance here in Thailand....

KR Club Race September 19, 2004

What a race ! 24 karts on the Clubman grid, 20 in the TAG class and a total of 84 karts took to the circuit at KR. A very well organized event and credit should go to Khun Kitti and the race stewards for managing the event so punctually and well. With that many karts on the relatively short KR circuit controversies on and of the track would be inevitable. The Club race points section has been updated, but is not yet official.

KR Club Race September 19, 2004

Race Day - September 19th

It is on again ! KR racing circuit, one of Thailand's fastest and most exiting races, only 2 weeks away. There are already several teams venturing down to Pattaya for racing practice and maybe some R&R, as well. The last Club race at KR in May saw a record number of karters and some nail biting racing action. As usual the race will be broadcast by UBC and several of the regular Thai TV channels cover this race as well. This is an excellent opportunity for you to start your racing career, all you need is a kart, safety equipment and a heavy right foot....

4/9-2004

Big Pho - Koen Kaen, National Race #6 - Race info

Track location, circuit map, pictures, free transportation and hotel booking information has been updated in the Big Pho track page here. Check it out. This is promising to be the great Isarn race and well worth going out of your way for. This is the very first time a national race event is hosted in Koen Kaen and virtually no one has had a chance to practice on this track - it's all down to man and machine for this one, so go for it !

2/9-2004

IMPORTANT - Race Date Changes

We have just been informed that the next Club race at KR scheduled for September 12th, has been postponed to September 19th.

Likewise the next National race at Peak-Po, Koen Kaen has been postponed from October 17th to October 24th.

Clarifications from the previous Club Race at KR

According to race organizer, Khun Kitti, it had been agreed that established Rotax Max drivers should compete with 180kg in the VIP class. Possible misunderstanding and lack of communication between drivers, scruteneering and organizers may then have lead to some drivers being told to run with 165kg and subsequently found themselves disqualified after the final.

With a total of 73 karts attending, there were many a tight grid on the fast and exiting KR Circuit in Pattaya last weekend. Tight racing and a fair amount of controversy was inevitable, but the amount of racers attending was a testimony to the popularity of the KR track as a race venue. The race organizer, Khun Kitti has promised to send us the race results and these will be posted as soon as received.
