Peter Christodoulou fined £30k by MSA National Court
The court has fined Mr. Peter Christodoulou £30,000 (THB 2 100 000) after he admitted to modifying kart racing engines in an illegal manner. This followed the removal of four kart engines for inspection during a race meeting at the Rowrah circuit on 5 June 2005. The court heard that the cheating in this case was “very deliberate, very sophisticated and very expensive”. The verdict and more details can be found at Kartlink here. |

New Bira track tested |
|
Last week a lucky few teams were invited for an early test and shake down of the brand new Bira track. The F1 standard asphalt is now in place and the track had been set up in a long configuration of 1330 meter. Although kerbs, grass and run-off areas were still not complete, the drive was fantastic. Easily the smoothest track in Thailand with fast straights, inward bending tightening corners, as well as fast sweeping corners similar to those the old circuit was famed for. The track is expected complete by year end and facilities, including air conditioned VIP paddocks, should be complete by March 2006. An overview photo can be found here. |

Next Race : National Championship 6 in Khorat 22-23/10-05 |
|
The
penultimate Thailand National Championship
race of the 2005 season will be in Khorat at the famous Sathorn Circuit. The track
is back for the second time this season through popular demand. Probably one of
the best circuits in Thailand, this long track takes you out in the farm lands
through winding S-curves, full speed sweeping corners and nail biting tight chicanes.
The track is known as one of the longest on the calendar and one that is know
to reward technical drivers. The "Tree curve" is famous throughout the
motor sport community in Thailand and one that requires nerves of steel - but
greatly rewards the lap times of those who master it. If
you only race once a year - this is it. You do want to try your skills
at the Sathorn Circuit at least once in your life time. See
you in Khorat ! Click

Lotta Hellberg
has passed away. | |
| Charlotte
Hellberg has passed away after a long battle with cancer. Lotta, who was 34, was
considered one of our times best female kart racers. She won the European Super
A Championship in Italy in 1996. She ended her active racing career in 1998 and
have the last few years been acting as a team manager for PDB Racing. Lotta was
regularly seen on the race events in Thailand and will be missed. Our thoughts
are with the family. | |

the best track in Thailand, the Satorn Circuit in Khorat is fast, long and fun
to race. In addition lets mention that it is dry and hot, hot and hot. More than

turned out to be fast, although maybe not quite as fast as Bridgestone. Below
are some sample times that was observed on karts running on weight and Vega tires:
| Yamaha | 39.29 |
| TAG | 38.02 |
| Clubman | 37.22 |
| Intercon | 36.92 |

SuperKart Challenge at KR 30/1-05 | |
|
The 2005 season's
first race is fast approaching, with only two weekends to go until the SuperKart
Challenge race at KR. A large number of karts from all classes were already practicing
last weekend. Especially pleasing it is to see all the new young drivers entering
both Comer, Puma and Yamaha classes. With
Bridgestone tires the KR track has become incredibly fast, with several classes
now doing sub-30 second laps. Come race day and most likely both Clubman and TAG
classes will see 29 second qualification times. Sizzzeling... |

KAT Info |
| |
The KAT is now
in possession of a fuel tester that will be used on sanctioned races. Fuel testing
will be made on a random basis. The fuel tester has been provided courtesy of
RT Karting, the Thailand Rotax Max distributor. Their slogan this year is for:
"Race with your skill. Same engine, same HP" and their commitment
for racing on equal terms is clear. Any
regular 95 Octane PTT/Jet gasoline station fuel will pass the test and fuel calibration
will be done on raceday against gasoline from the nearest regular gasoline station. |
