Eddie Jacobsson
1930 - 2007 |
We regret to bring you the sad news that Eddie has passed away. Eddie died at his home in Pattaya on December the 11th. It was with such a heavy hart we learnt this, just a few days after racing with him at Bangsaen. As always, Eddie came and sat with us in the pit at Bangsaen to talk about his passion of life - motor racing. As so many times before, he brought with him a photograph that he had taken, he preferred the film cameras to the digital and always shared pictures he had taken of us. It is funny and so many have pointed this out the last few days, Eddie came to their pits as well. In such a stressing environment as our pits unfortunately often becomes, Eddie always found the time to visit and talk to everyone... We will find it strange going to a race and not meeting Eddie there.
Eddie has already been induced into our Hall of Fame and we shall update his profile further, as he was and remains an icon to so many of us who had the pleasure of racing with him and knowing him. Not the least there must be a mention of Eddie's resent victory in the Thailand AKOC 2007 race, in over 50 years of racing and numerous podiums - this was the first time ever Eddie was on the top step of the podium ! A feat he was very - very proud of !
Eddie's funeral rites will be held in Pattaya shortly and we will try to advice the time for this. |

Bangsaen Street Race - Pictures |
|
|
Pictures from last weekends fantastic event in Bangsaen have been updated here.
The memories of the almost chilling sea breezes, fantastic racing and such an awesome event will linger for quite some time. What a season finale it was to an already very-very good racing season.
Thank you very much to the race organizers KAT, SKT, RMC, AKOC and our ASN the RAAT and all Marshal's and track officials who through the year has put in so much hard work to make it possible for us in Thailand to race to such a high level. Thank you to all ! |

2007's last Race Weekend !!!
|
This will be the final race weekend of 2007 and Bangsaen beachfront roads are the venue for this very exiting street race. Held for the first time in June 2006, this will only be the second time this race is held. The track has been lengthened to twice that of last year and again the races will continue well after night fall. Do remember to bring a non-tinted visor for your helmet. If 2006 was anything to go by, expect a huge spectator crowd, brass bands, shows, celebrities and everything else that goes with a glitzy event of this caliber. This is your chance to get that Monaco feeling ! See you at Cafe de Paris in Bangsaen. |

Street Race !! Night Race !!!! |
|
The season ending kart race promises to be the most spectacular ever in Thailand! With the very successfully street race of 2006, this years event will be on a track twice as long. As before the venue is the beach front Bangsaen, where the race will be held on closed of roads in center of the city. Last year you could practically be fishing from the back side of the pits !! The superbly arranged street circuit will again be flow lit and the final heat will be released long after night fall. There are many hotels, both luxurious and economical close to the track, but hurry, most hotels are quite full already. More details below.

Thailands largest motorsport event - EVER !! |
|
 |
This weekend hosts the BangSaen Grand Prix (midway between Bangkok and Pattaya), with a totally awesome street circuit around this beautiful beach resort. In blatant competition with established street circuits like Macau, BangSaen has built a superb 3.7 km long circuit over the mountain, though the long tree lined avenues and along the entire beach front. I have been driving the track the last couple of days in preparations for Sunday's big race and this easily tops any sort of racing I have ever done. What a track ! What an event ! Come on down to BangSaen and see for yourself this weekend ! |

The season ending race will be a major spectacle with Bangsaen again hosting a beach front street race, namely the SuperKart Thailand final round. The track will be twice as long as it was last year and will again conclude with a night race. This race was an awesome experience last year and you can safely expect that Khun Kitti, the organizer, will again entertain with a superb event. The invitation letter can be found here. |

News from Germany |
|
Two of our Thai boys Guykoh and Top raced in Hahn, Germany over the weekend (Aug 19th) in the Germany Championships, the last race of the German Karting season. Top was in KF3 (Jr) class, a very full class with over 43 entries. He did well (16th) in his 1st heat but got knocked out on the second heat so didn't get to race the final. Guykoh raced in KF2 and had much better luck. Having only 22 entries made it easy to get to the finals. He started last in the pre-final and finished 20th... In the final he came in 16th, not bad for his first European race. |

2007 National Championship Round 4 - Track Layout |
|
The Layout for this coming weekend's National Championship Round 4 race at Bira can be found here. Lap times this weekend were in the 42 to 48 second bracket for the various classes. A fairly technical, but still fast layout with very limited hard braking corners, but plenty of overtaking possibilities. You will enjoy it ! |
