AKOC Round 3, Sentul Indonesia |
|
Tin obliterates the AKOC Field in the AKOC Round 3 in Sentul Indonesia.
After first having to DNF from a huge lead in the Pre-final with a broken engine, the outlook in the 22 kart grid looked dim for the Thai karting ace. In the final Stefano Marcello got off to a good lead followed by Ryan Mumford, all while Tin charged mercilessly up the field. Astonishingly, after only a hand full of laps he had gotten past all but Stefano and Ryan, who must have felt the pressure. When Stefano then seased his engine, Ryan pushed hard with Tin fast catching up, but then Ryan snapped his throttle cable and Tin could cruise in to an amazing victory.
Sandy Nicholas finished 3rd in The Rotax Max junior category on a very exiting and surely one of the very best tracks in Asia. The Sentul track has seen major upgrades and is now a dream to race at with superb facilities. |

Thai drivers go well in AKOC 2 at Carmona Circuit in the Philippines |
 |
The Thai contingent of 4 drivers thoroughly enjoyed the rather wet and again typhoon rich race weekend at Carmona Circuit. With intermittently blue skies and torrential downpour, set up was all but a gamble as competitors from all over asia raced it out. In Formula 125 Open Pasin did an excellent job securing 4th, while Jonathan struggled with engine problems, but still secured a third in Rok Senior. Petch had his hands full and had a thriller of a final in intermediate wet/dry conditions and numerous overtaking's, eventually securing 3rd. Sandy spun out of the prefinal, but the weather worked to his advantage with heavy rains just before the final, allowing him to go from last up to 4th overall in Open Junior and win the Rotax Max Junior category. |

His next race will be at Nakayaka Circuit. |

SuperKart Thailand - ROK Jr. - 2nd Update |
 |
KC Kart (SuperKart Organizer) has just informed us that there will also be a weight change for the Rok Junior class, from 145 kg to 150 kg. This is an attempt to limit the speed of this class, which undoubtedly will be one of Thailand's fastest. This move will also suit many slightly heavier pilots and allow them to stay in this class longer. |

Jonathan and Pasin back from Formula BMW Test |

They returned this week full of praise for the Meritus Formula BMW Team, who had invited them to come and test the Formula BMW's at the Sepang F1 Circuit in Malaysia. After 2 full days of testing, some sore arms were reported, but the two budding Formula pilots were overjoyed with the experience. Both Jonathan and Pasin have been regulars on the karting Podium of late and are now looking to enhance their racing experience further. You can see pictures from the test here. |

SuperKart Thailand - ROK Jr. - IMPORTANT Update |
 |
KC Kart (SuperKart Organizer) has just announced that there will be a change to the Rok junior regulations with immediate effect. The exhaust pipe extension for Rok Jr. will not be required anymore. The extension piece can now be cut of and welded shut. This is a move intended to make the ROK Jr. class more even and fair for everyone. The Rok Jr. class already promotes one of the most fun and fair classes to race in Thailand and although this announced move will make the class a little faster, this is considered still to be within acceptable levels. Come on and join this very exiting class, it is open for anyone in the age group 12 to 16 years old ! |

Saraburi Circuit Update |
 |
Just back from Saraburi Circuit after practice in preparation for the next 2 upcoming races. SC has seen several track improvements and numerous new white pit tents were being raised in the upper pit area as we left. The weather was nice and mild, with a very nice breeze coming in over the lake, much like a resort weekend !
The first race is only a week away (June 1), with the 3rd Round of the Rotax Max Challenge coming up. Everyone is invited to race in this very even championship !
Two weeks later (June 15th) will see the 3rd Round of the SuperKart Thailand and True Vison Championship. Just like the RMC, the SKT promotes excellent racing conditions with equally powered Rok engines. Whether a new or experienced driver, you are invited to join the races.
Anyone requiring assistance with transport, mechanics, parts, karts, engines or advice, please feel free to contact us here at info_english@kartthai.com/info_ thai@kartthai.com or RMC by Khun Shine (service.rotaxthailand@yahoo.com), SKT by Khun Kitti (kc_kart@hotmail.com) or Mike Ord (michelin@hcm.vnn.vn). |

New Helmet painter in Pattaya |
|
Thai Airbrush have just established themselves with a studio in Pattaya after many years of doing custom helmet painting in the United Kingdom for both kart, car and motorbike racers. The first helmet (click picture on the right for larger view) was just finished last weekend and took only a little over 2 weeks to complete. The cost of getting the work done by Thai Airbrush was very reasonable and the quality of work was excellent, so well worth trying if you are looking to get your helmet done up. You can contact Simon at Thai Airbrush on hand phone 081 5645558. |

SuperKart Thailand Round 1, Results |
|
The results from the weekends hot and action packed races in Saraburi is out and can be found here. Again a very nice event with intense and challenging racing up and down the various classes. Worth noting must be Guykoh's classical win in the ROK 125 class, which left the hard fighting Shogun and Jonathan wondering where their lead went. You will not see many of those race endings !! Petch again raced supreme in MiniRok and Viravich won the Comer class. Jukka celebrated his first win of the season in the Formula B, while Shogun blasted to victory in Formula A. Kittitat won the Junior category, while the Cadet Class A will have to await their results pending "deliberations". In spite of both the soaring track temperatures and the intense racing, the event unfolded very nicely and we will be looking forward to the next race. |

kartthai.com rounds 100 000 |
Thank You ! |
Exactly - to the day - 4 years after we put the counter on the website we had our hundred thousandth genuine visitor here on kartthai.com. That surely must be auspicious...? Thank you to all of you who have visited our karting website and we do hope that it has brought you some information and assistance over the these years. It has surely been a joy to see the Thai karting scene developing so well since then. The website was started after a rather dismal National race at the Rayong Circuit where P' Mai paid all the expenses out of his own pocket. That race only had some 30 karts racing and a lot of people got together to promote this fantastic sport of ours. The Thai karting can only continue to grow by all involved working together for a common goal and leave all "fighting" to be done on the track - not off it. We welcome all - young and old - to join our races ! We guarantee you a lot of fun and a serious adrenaline rush... kartthai.com |

More sad news |
|
We regret to again bring sad news. Thai karting just lost one more person. This loss was not a driver but a mechanic in Khun Mongkol’s team. His name is Noke. He was a person with a kind heart and always gave his hand to others when we were on racing tracks both inside and outside Thailand. On January 25, 2008 Noke drove his truck back home to Cholburi during which he dropped by at the house of KAT’s president Khun Deo. After which he continued home but unfortunately he had an accident, where he was seriously injured and later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.
All caring persons are invited to his funeral or you may offer you donation through Khun Deo. KAT will host a religious rite one night. |
